Apapa Customs Records Historic N304 billion Revenue in October

Apapa Customs Records Historic N304 billion Revenue in OctoberThe Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has achieved a milestone by generating N304 billion in revenue for the month of October 2025—marking the highest monthly collection ever recorded by any customs command in the service’s history.

Year-on-Year Growth and Cumulative Performance

In October 2024, the same command collected approximately N264 billion, making the new figure a significant jump.

From January through October 2025, the command’s total revenue stands at about N2.4 trillion—surpassing the total revenue collected during the entire 2024 year, with still two months to go.

Key Drivers Behind the Surge

According to Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, the command’s Area Controller:

Officers and stakeholders have been sensitised and trained to drive higher performance.

A new drive-through scanning regime, capable of processing around 150 containers per hour from the quayside, has been introduced to speed up clearance and reduce congestion.

The command is deploying modern trade-facilitation tools, including a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) that harmonises customs procedures to save time and promote efficiency.

A zero-tolerance position has been declared regarding revenue leakages and misapplication of Harmonised System (HS) codes for duty evasion.

What This Means for Trade and Logistics

This record-breaking performance by the Apapa Command holds strong implications for importers, exporters, and all logistics service providers:

The enhanced processing capacity and scanning operations suggest smoother and faster clearance for goods and cargos. This signals better support infrastructure at one of the country’s key ports.

Freight forwarders, clearing agents and shipping agents will benefit from improved trade-facilitation systems, which may reduce dwell times and enhance reliability.

The commitment to enforcing compliance and reducing evasion helps level the playing field for legitimate businesses that handle imports and exports in Nigeria.

The Apapa Area Command’s record-breaking N304 billion revenue highlights the success of customs modernization and stronger stakeholder cooperation. These improvements translate into faster cargo clearance, tighter compliance, and greater transparency—benefiting importers, exporters, and logistics providers alike.
